FO: Trillian

Sometimes I feel way ahead of the curve. For instance, last month I decided to cast on a Christmas gift to knit during my commute time.
I'm not a huge fan of knitting garter stitch but it's so easy to knit that I decided it would be the perfect project for my early morning and afternoon bus times. Several weeks later I have a finished object for my gift box that I barely noticed I was knitting. Normally, I would complain about the endless garter stitch but at 5:30am I didn't really have the energy to contribute to bemoaning garter stitch, I just picked it up and knit.
Pattern: Trillian by Martina Behm
Yarn: Tosh Merino Light in Robin Red Breast
Needles: US #2 1/2 (3.0 mm) Addi Turbo
Mods: None. I just knit knit knit and have about 6 yards of yarn left. I'm going to use it to tie up the package before I send it off to the recipient.

Do you knit gifts for the holidays? Do you have a plan or do you just dive in?

  1. It can be boring to knit garter stitch, but it does lend itself wonderfully for those times of day when you lack energy to really think about complicated stitches. In this case it also really works well with the pattern, beautiful shawl!

  2. Sometimes I love garter and other times not so much. Thank goodness we have a choice. You are ahead of the curve with all your lovely gift knitting. I am behind the curve.
    Beautiful Trillian!

    1. It's never too late to catch up.

Isn't that the great thing about knitting, that we have so many choices?

  4. I do knitted gifts for our families every other year- this year is a knitted year and everything is done! I did hats and cowls for those who do not wear hats, and some mittens for my god daughters who had received hats earlier in the year. I also used commute knitting- started in June, was done by October- now I can make things for myself!

    1. Lucky you! I have to admit, I'm doing some selfish knitting in between gift knitting and it's making all the difference.
