Music Monday: Cover Edition

"Crash" by Belle and Sebastian from the 2012 album, Late Night Tales: Belle & Sebastian Vol. II

"Crash" by the Primitives from the 1988 album, Lovely.

I'm not really sure if I prefer one version over the other in this case since I don't think one version is necessarily better or more interesting than the other. What I can say after watching the videos is that the yellow and black polka-dot scarf Tracy Tracy is wearing totally kills me and the little paper Belle &  Sebastian band is adorable.

Music Monday

"Pump It Up" from Elvis Costello's 1978 album, This Year's Model. I think I may have posted this one before but I recently heard a Mudhoney version of this song which reminded me how great the original is.

For comparison's sake, here's the Mudhoney version from 2010.

Music Monday

"I Need You Around" by the Smoking Popes from the 1994 album, Born to Quit. Some romantic pop punk for the upcoming V-day celebrations. Enjoy!

Music Monday

"Atmosphere" by Joy Division. Originally released as a French single in 1980, the song was re-released after the death of Ian Curtis as a double A-side single with "She's Lost Control" and again in 1988 with the music video.

Music Monday

"Jolene" by Dolly Parton. Catch the outfits on this one. One of my co-workers at the new job is named Jolene and every time she answers the phone this song pops in my head.

Music Monday

"Make the World Go Away" by Eddy Arnold. I'm feeling exactly this way right now - almost 6 am on a Monday morning and I'm ready to crawl back into bed and pull the head over my covers. I think we can all relate to this feeling.

Music Monday

Last week I wrote that I don't like Christmas music, but there are several songs that I do enjoy listening to this time of year. I'm not sure they're "in the spirit" of the holiday season but I think they mention snow and Christmas and other seasonal stuff that other Christmas songs mention, so there we go.

"Fairytale of New York" by the Pogues

The Sonics "Don't Believe in Christmas"

"Fuck Christmas" by Fear

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Holiday season and all the attending parties, family time, and sparkly lights but the music does absolutely nothing for me. So here you go, Christmas music ErinB style. Happy Holidays!

"The Killing Moon" by Echo & the Bunnymen from the 1984 release, Ocean Rain. Personally, I need a little easing into my work week this week and this totally fits the bill. Enjoy!

Roy Orbison singing "Blue Bayou". I think it's a good song to ease into the work week.

A Month of Favorites: Music Monday

I've been trying to think of music favorites thematically but my choices are a bit of a smorgasbord since I've been doing all kinds of listening lately. Enjoy!

Hedwig and the Angry Inch "Tear Me Down".

"Quick" from the Magnetic Fields' album Love at the Bottom of the Sea

"Flashlight" by Parliament

"Rebel Girl" by Bikini Kill

"Girlfriend in a Coma" by the Smiths

I did warn you that it was a wide variety of music, but I'd say that it's also very representative of my music collection - eclectic!
